Wicksteed Safety Grass has been independently tested in accordance with the requirements of BS EN 1177:1998.
Wicksteed Safety Grass is a honeycomb matting that is easy to install, competitively priced and unobtrusive. It's an alternative impact absorbing surface for Wicksteed Leisure's play and fitness equipment – particularly suitable for the Combat Cableway Zip Slide (page 76) and the Fantasy Funrun range (pages 111 to 118). It is wheelchair and pushchair friendly and can also be used for high-wearing walkways across grass to protect against erosion.
Once installed, it virtually disappears as the turf grows through its cells, whilst continuing to provide impact absorbing protection for children and young adults at play and protection against erosion of the grass surface of your site and/or when topsoil is needed to be added.
Material and specification
Manufactured from recycled rubber, Wicksteed Safety Grass requires no base works and is suitable for flat or contoured sites. It wears extremely well and is resistant to all weathers and temperatures.
Wicksteed Safety Grass mats measure 1.5m X 1m with a thickness of 23mm. Each mat weighs 19kg and is supplied with galvanised securing pins and cable ties. A ground stabilising mesh is also available for soft, boggy sites or when topsoil is needed to be added.
A Critical Fall Height of 2.3m is achieved on grass. However, unlike Wicksteed Continuous Surfacing and Wicksteed Safety Tiles, this type of surfacing relies on underlying soil conditions to contribute substantially to its impact absorbency performance. With this in mind, we would generally recommend that caution be exercised in using this product with items of play equipment with a free fall height in excess of 2 metres. Please check the suitability of Safety Grass for individual applications prior to installation. The Critical Fall Height figure will be affected by soil type, moisture and grass. Maintenance
This innovative safety surfacing solution is maintenance-free, keeps grassed areas looking smart and allows the grass to be cut with a conventional mower.
Guarantee
Wicksteed Safety Grass is guaranteed for five years, excluding normal wear and tear, the results of vandalism and accidental damage.
 Technical information and installation
Wicksteed provide a nationwide installation service using experienced personnel trained to install equipment and surfacing to BS EN 1176.
